Masterbatch is a solid or liquid additive used for coloring plastics (color masterbatch) or imparting other properties to plastics (additive masterbatch). Masterbatch is a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or additives encapsulated during a heat process into a carrier resin which is then cooled and cut into a granular shape. Masterbatch allows the processor to colour raw polymer economically during the plastics manufacturing process.
We strive to create a masterbatch of the highest quality.
A pigment is a material that changes the colour of reflected or transmitted light as the result of wavelength-selective absorption. This physical process differs from fluorescence, phosphorescence, and other forms of luminescence, in which a material emits light.
Many materials selectively absorb certain wavelengths of light. Materials that humans have chosen and developed for use as pigments usually have special properties that make them ideal for coloring other materials. A pigment must have a high tinting strength relative to the materials it colors. It must be stable in solid form at ambient temperatures.
By using only the best pigments that the world has to offer, we create pigments to suit any polymer.
Whether it is matching to a customer’s standard or to a customer’s mould, from pantones to RAL Numbers, we at Mercury Plastics strive to ensure that all colour matching requests are to your needs and specifications.
